Cast Iron Drain Grates stolen from Langley, BC
50 cast iron grates 11 ½” wide by 48” long with a middle thickness of 1 ½” tapering out to a side thickness of 1” were stolen from a parking lot in Langley, BC.

Police issue warning as thieves steal RV batteries
Delta Police issued a warning last week to recreational vehicle owners to keep a close eye on their batteries.
The department has noticed a spike in the theft of batteries from RVs – especially travel trailers – in recent weeks.

Companies scramble as copper prices attract thieves
Record copper commodity prices have Telus and BC Hydro scrambling to keep up with wire thieves who are costing utility customers millions of dollars a year.
The companies warn that the problem is escalating -either in terms of the frequency of thefts of copper wire from overhead and other aboveground lines, or the sophistication of those undertaking them -putting the safety of repair workers and the general public at risk.

Do Not Buy List: Plastic Materials
Several years ago as the problem of material theft was exploding as the price of commodities rose, ISRI
distributed a memo entitled "Recommended Practices and Procedures for Minimizing the Risk of Purchasing Stolen Materials."
One of the recommendations was that recyclers create a list of materials that should be prohibited from purchase unless the purchase is made under contract or a specific letter of authorization. Special emphasis was put on the prohibition on buying beer kegs as these are the property of the brewer and no one else has authorization to sell them.

Man's stolen prosthetic leg hard to replace
A Squamish man has been deprived of a means of mobility after his prosthetic leg was stolen Monday from a van parked near Eighth Avenue and Commercial Drive.
Vancouver police issued a public appeal Wednesday to find the leg, worth an estimated $20,000.

A report was received that two males with a U-haul truck were taking metals from outside a local business. Police responded and found the males, who have a history of property crime, were taking metal from the garbage bins.

March 9, 9pm, 7900-block of Huston Rd:
During the routine patrol police found an unoccupied
vehicle that was associated with males known to be casing businesses. Police located the suspect in the business
in possession of a gym bag containing a quantity of
copper wire cut from vehicles inside the compound.
The suspect was transported to headquarters and held.

Northern Ohio Scrap Industry Helps Recover $7,200 Worth of Stolen Time Warner Batteries
Washington, D.C. — Thanks to a theft alert posted by the Akron Police Detectives Bureau and the coordinated actions of recycler Randy Katz of City Scrap & Salvage Company with other Northern Ohio recycling companies approximately half of the 90 stolen batteries worth $160 a piece have been recovered.
